Usage notes

While a direct cognate with shit in English, Scheiße can be used as a catch-all term for all forms of vulgarity and swear words in German.

Though not appropriate in formal language, Scheiße and related terms are not as taboo as other vulgar words, such as Fotze and those related to ficken.
