  • Named after either Louis Marquis (one of the first colonists of the region), Louis-Antoine Proulx (vicar of Rivière-du-Loup), or Louis-Nicolas Bernier (an abbot).
  • Ha! Ha!, from ha-ha (“obstacle which suddenly interrupts a path”), is said by the Commission de toponymie to refer to nearby Lake Témiscouata.
