From Proto-Cushitic *ṭiḳ- (“to wash”), whence Oromo dhiquu (“rinse”), Arbore dhiqadh (“wash oneself”), Daasanach 'jik, Burji dhiq, dhiqadh (“wash onself”), Yaaku -t'o̲q-, Iraqw tleeqw (“dam; prevent water from flowing”).[1][2]
