Proto-Sino-Tibetan

Reconstruction

  • Proto-Sino-Tibetan:
    • Proto-Tibeto-Burman: *k-lu (STEDT)

STEDT identifies the pre-initial as a reduced form of *mV-qow (head), which must have had a uvular due to its West rGyalrongic reflexes. Sagart (2022) seems to also believe the *k- pre-initial reflects an old uvular, but for more questionable reasons (he compares this word to Proto-Austronesian *quluh (head)).

Noun

*qV-luʔ

  1. head
    Synonyms: *mV-qow, *tV-pu
