Proto-Sino-Tibetan

Reconstruction

  • Proto-Sino-Tibetan:
    • Proto-Tibeto-Burman: *lu-s (STEDT)

The possibility that most of the "cognates" listed on the STEDT page are really loans from Tibetan cannot yet be discounted.

The Burmese comparandum is due to Hill (2019:77). The assignment of the Burmese word to *su in STEDT is wrong, as the lateral initial would become inexplicable.

Noun

*lus

  1. body

Descendants

  • Bodish
    • Tibetic
      • Tibetan: ལུས (lus), ལུས་པོ (lus po)
  • Lolo-Burmese
    • Burmish
