Suggested to be from *yazug (“the young”), from Proto-Scythian *yazuki,[1] from *yazu (“young”) +‎ *-ki (substantival suffix), from Proto-Iranian *(H)yajúš, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *(H)yaȷ́ʰúš (“young, youthful”).
