Etymology

Probably an adverbial accusative from an original neuter accusative form of *magjōs (“more”, adjective).[1][2][3] Diachronically, from Proto-Indo-European *m̥ǵh₂-is, a form of Proto-Indo-European *méǵh₂yōs.
