From Pre-Germanic *h₁rem-os, *h₁rem-es-, an s-stem from Proto-Indo-European *h₁rem- (“to be quiet, calm”).[1] Related to Sanskrit रमते (rámate, “to calm down”), रामयति (rāmáyati, “to bring to rest”), Lithuanian ri̇̀mti (“to calm down”).
