Etymology
Possibly from Proto-Indo-European *h₁éǵʰerom.[1][2] Cognate with Old Armenian եզր (ezr, “edge, border, bank”), Kamkata-viri āźo, āziu (“pond”), Waigali azā (“pond”). Connection to Ancient Greek Ἀχέρων (Akhérōn) doubtful.[1][3]
