Etymology
According to Vajda, the earliest form of the root started with *d. He therefore reconstructs a Proto-Na-Dene form *dawɢ (although there are no Eyak or Tlingit cognates to serve as comparanda), which is purported to be cognate with Proto-Yeniseian *dawɢ (“to fly”).
