Proto-Athabaskan
Etymology
From *ɬu̓ˑχ (“whitefish”) + *-eˑ. There are several reconstructed Proto-Athabaskan suffixes with this form: one forming areal nouns, one forming kinship terms, and one with a negative meaning. *ɬuˑχ is cognate with Tlingit tɬuˑχ (“whitefish”), suggesting a Proto-Na-Dene origin.
