Reconstruction:Prakrit/𑀝𑁄𑀡
Prakrit
Alternative reconstructions
- *𑀝𑀉𑀡 (*ṭaüṇa)
Etymology
Unknown. Perhaps from older *𑀝𑀓𑀼𑀦 (*ṭakuna), perhaps borrowed from a non-Aryan adaptation of Sanskrit शकुन (śakuná, “omen, bird”), शकुन्त (śakúnta, “vulture”), which itself is of uncertain and perhaps substrate origin. If this is the case, doublet of 𑀲𑀉𑀡 (saüṇa).
Noun
*𑀝𑁄𑀡 (*ṭoṇa) (Devanagari *टोण) (Proto-New Indo-Aryan)
