Unknown. It may be connected to Oscan πŒ–πŒ“πŒ–πŒ…πŒ‰πŒ‰πŒ” (uruviis) and Pre-Samnite πŒ–πŒ“πŒ–πŒšπŒ‰πŒ„πŒ‰πŒ” (urufieis), although the reading of the Pre-Samnite term is disputed and thus its potential etymology is uncertain.
