      Of the fifteen or so Northern Iroquoian varieties, nine are completely dormant (Susquehannock, Neutral, Nottoway, Erie, Wenro, Laurentian, Wendat, Petun, and Meherrin), and five are nearly dormant (Onödowá’ga:’ or Seneca, Gayogohó:nǫʔ or Cayuga, Onųdaʔgegáʔ or Onondaga, Onʌyotaʔa:ké: or Oneida, and Skarù:ręʔ or Tuscarora); although most of these have been fairly well documented, and reclamation attempts based on archival materials have started for some (see for instance Lukaniec’s work on Wendat).
