Einheitsplural m (strong, genitive Einheitsplurals, plural Einheitsplurale)

1. (linguistics, chiefly Germanic studies) a conjugation form used for all three persons of the plural of a verb

• Among the early West Germanic languages, the Einheitsplural was present in Old English, Old Frisian, and Old Saxon, separating these languages from Old Dutch and Old High German. (Some varieties in the latter group developed an Einheitsplural later on, e.g. standard Netherlandic Dutch and many dialects of Alemannic German.)
