Etymology
From ca (“Class 7 associative particle”) + kufwa (“to die”). Literally means "a thing associated with dying", or better rendered, "a dead thing/object". Compare with Tumbuka Chapasi and Chichewa Chakumanda.

This name is used for parents who have lost many children of their own. Tembo notes that the name mocks the baby, joking that it will join its dead siblings in the grave.
