A misspelling of Latin achaemenes, from Ancient Greek ἀχαιμενῐ́ς (akhaimenĭ́s), Ἀχαιμένης (Akhaiménēs), Old Persian 𐏃𐎧𐎠𐎶𐎴𐎡𐏁 (h-x-a-m-n-i-š), from *haxā (“friend”) +‎ *maniš (“thought, mind”).
