Albanian
Etymology
Inherited from Proto-Albanian *dyét(ə), from *dyékti, with i-umlaut from *d(i)yákti, from *d(w)iyákatì, with regular loss of post-consonant w, from older *d(w)íyakatì, which is with depalatalization of the palatal stop in contact with a nasal, from Pre-Proto-Albanian *dwíya (d)káti, from Proto-Indo-European *dwíh₁ dḱm̥ti (“two tens”), contracted from *dwoyh₁ deḱm̥tih₁.[1]
The etymologies of Orel, Huld, Hamp, Meyer, Klingenschmitt, and Blažek, which ultimately derive it from Proto-Indo-European *wídḱm̥ti (“twenty”),[2][3] should be rejected on the grounds of unsupported and ad hoc assumptions.[4]
