From Sanskrit -तव्य (-tavya, suffix for future passive participles).

- ਬੱਝ (bajjha, “bound”) + -ਵਾਂ (-vā̃) → ਬੱਝਵਾਂ (bajjhavā̃, “steady, fixed, bound (of an amount)”)
- ਟੁੱਟ (ṭuṭṭa, “break”) + -ਵਾਂ (-vā̃) → ਟੁੱਟਵਾਂ (ṭuṭṭavā̃, “piecemeal”)
- ਫੇਰ (pher, “move, turn”) + -ਵਾਂ (-vā̃) → ਫੇਰਵਾਂ (phervā̃, “movable, turnable”)
Etymology 2
Inherited from Prakrit -𑀫 (-ma) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀓- (-ka-), from Sanskrit -म (-ma). Ultimately an Indo-Iranian innovation based off analogy. See *aštamás for more. Cognate with Persian ـم.
