Inherited from Middle Armenian -ուճ (-uč).

Middle Armenian

Etymology

Uncertain. Unattested in Old Armenian. Found only in a few words in Middle Armenian and modern dialects. Compare Georgian -უჭი (-uč̣i) and note the correspondence of պարկուճի (parkuči) ~ პარკუჭი (ṗarḳuč̣i), both of which can be explained with this suffix from պարկ (park) ~ პარკი (ṗarḳi).
