-ыл (-yl)

1. (case suffix) with. Used to form the instrumental case, If the previous letter is a consonant.

   ла̄гыл (lāgyl, “leg”) → ла̄гылыл (lāgylyl, “with leg”)

2. (adverb-forming suffix) Used to form adverbs from adjectives that are without the -ыӈ suffix.

   сохт (soht, “straight”) → сохтыл (sohtyl, “directly, in a straight manner”)

   ёмас (ëmas, “straight”) → ёмасыл (ëmasyl, “goodly, in a good manner”)

3. (noun-forming suffix) (rare, obsolete) Used to form nouns from verbs that are either denote the name of an action or the result of action. In pronunciation it is -ил (-il), but comforts to the rules of palatalization so sometimes it is -ыл (-yl).

   па̄стуӈкве (pāstuňkve, “to foreclose”) → па̄стыл (pāstyl, “splitting a part of an object in two”)

   ва̄туӈкве (vātuňkve) → ва̄тыл (vātyl, “berry picking”)
