    Onomatopoeic. Compare Sanskrit थूथू (thūthū), ष्ठ्यूत (ṣṭhyūta, spit out, ejected; the act of spitting, past participle; noun).

    Perhaps borrowed from Dravidian, compare Gondi తుహ్కల్ (tuhkal), Telugu తుపుక్కు (tupukku).[1]
