Etymology

First attested in the Neung'eomgyeong eonhae (楞嚴經諺解 / 능엄경언해), 1461, as Middle Korean 드러나다 (Yale: tulenata).

Originally 들- (deul-, to enter) +‎ -어 (-eo, infinitive suffix) +‎ 나다 (nada, to come out, appear), literally to enter and appear.[1]
