Etymology

酒(さけ) (sake, “saké”) + 造(つく)り (tsukuri, “making”). The tsukuri changes to zukuri as an instance of rendaku (連(れん)濁(だく)). 酒(さか) (saka) is the 被(ひ)覆(ふく)形(けい) (hifukukei, “bound form”) of 酒(さけ) (sake).
