Etymology

From Sun Tzu's The Art of War (孫子兵法), The Nine Situations (九地):

是故始如處女，敵人開戶，後如脫兔，敵不及拒。
Thus first be as a maiden (appear weak): the enemy opens the door; then be as a fleeing hare (fast): the enemy cannot withstand.
