目(め) (me, “eye, attention”) + に (ni) + 付(つ)く (tsuku, “be perceived”)

目(め)に付(つ)く • (me ni tsuku) 

1. to catch one's eye; to attract one's attention
   • 1914, 夏目漱石 [Natsume Sōseki], chapter 34, in こゝろ [Kokoro], 下 先生と遺書 [Sensei's Testament]:

     そうしてその嫌(きら)いなところは、Ｋ(ケイ)が宅(うち)へ来(き)てから、始(はじ)めて私(わたくし)の眼(め)に着(つ)き出(だ)したのです。

     Sōshite sono kirai na tokoro wa, Kei ga uchi e kite kara, hajimete watakushi no me ni tsukidashita no desu.

     And that aspect I loathed only started to catch my eye once K arrived in the house.
