Usage notes

Not to be confused with ホテル (hoteru) which means hotel. Also, their pitch accent differ. 火照(ほて)る (hoteru) is nakadaka (downstep at the second mora) while ホテル (hoteru) is atamadaka (downstep at the first mora).
