Etymology
From a corruption of 波俾掾 or 波卑夜, itself ultimately from Sanskrit पापीयस् (pāpīyas, “sinner, the evil one”). For the use of "旬", compare with 耶旬 as a corrupted transcription of Pali jhāpita.
