Usage notes

  • In Mandarin, this word has largely been overtaken by its modern counterpart 名片 (míngpiàn).
  • In Taiwanese Hokkien, this word is as frequently used as 名片 (míngpiàn). Besides, mè-sì, phonologically borrowed from Japanese (めい)() (meishi), is regarded as one of standardized forms.[1][2]
