The 連用形 (ren'yōkei, “stem or continuative form”) of the verb 熱る (hotoru, “to heat up (intransitive), to become hot”)..[4][1]
The verb 熱る (hotoru) is attested since at least 1283.[5] The date of first use of this verb form as an independent noun is currently uncertain, but would be some time after that.
