Etymology 1

From archaic ばてとも (batetomo), which came to Kyūshū from Kyoto.

Alternative forms

ばってんが (battenga), ばってんくさ (battenkusa)
- Carries a stronger nuance in Hakata-ben (Fukuoka dialect).

Part of Kyūshū dialects. Used particularly often in Fukuoka (except for Kitakyūshū), Kumamoto, Saga and Nagasaki prefectures.
