    • 1914, 夏目漱石 [Natsume Sōseki], chapter 12, in こゝろ [Kokoro], 下 先生と遺書 [Sensei's Testament]:
      それのみならず、ある()(あい)(わたくし)(おう)(よう)(かた)だといって、さも(そん)(けい)したらしい(くち)()(かた)をした(こと)があります。
      Sore nominarazu, aru baai ni watakushi o ōyō na kata da to itte, samo sonkei shita rashii kuchi no kikikata o shita koto ga arimasu.
      Not only that, there was one occasion where she called me a "magnanimous fellow", and in such a tone that really seemed to imply she respected me.
