Etymology
From Proto-Berber *əddăr, the perfect of *idir, from earlier *iwdir ("to live"). Compare with Proto-Semitic *dawar- (“period, cycle”) (whence Akkadian duāru & Hebrew דור). Cognate with Numidian [script needed] (DR).
