Inherited from Proto-Berber *ăṭṭəs (“to sleep”).

Cognate with Zenaga yūđ̣äẕ̌ (“to lie in bed”), Senhaja de Srair ṭṭeṣ (“to sleep”), Kabyle and Tarifit ṭṭes (“to sleep”), and Tuareg əṭṭes (“to sleep”).
