Compare Old Chinese 擦 (OC *sʰlaːd).
Cognate with Northern Thai ᨩᩮᩢ᩠ᨯ, Lao ເຊັດ (set), Lü ᦵᦋᧆ (tsed), Tai Dam ꪹꪋꪸꪒ, Shan ၸဵတ်ႉ (tsâ̰et), Phake ꩡ︀ိတ︀် (cit), Ahom 𑜋𑜢𑜄𑜫 (chit), Zhuang caed.
