Etymology
Borrowed from Pali anumodana (literally “to appreciate after; to appreciate along”), from anu (“after; along”) + mud (“to appreciate”) + -ana (“nominal suffix”). Ultimately from Sanskrit अनुमोदन (anumodana), from अनु (anu) + मुद् (mud) + -अन (-ana).
Cognate with Khmer អនុមោទនា (ʼɑɑnumootniə), Lao ອະນຸໂມດັນາ (ʼa nu mō da nā).
