Etymology
Compound of కిల్ల (killa, “nipped”) + ఆకు (āku, “leaf”). So called because historically, a leaf indented with marks of the fingernail were sent by a messenger to indicate the reply to a proposal: an odd number of dents for agreement, and an even number for refusal.
