   • 1924, ઝવેરચંદ મેઘાણી [Jhaverchand Meghani], “ભાગીરથી [bhāgīrthī]”, in સૌરાષ્ટ્રરની રસધાર [saurāṣṭrarnī rasdhār, The Essence of Saurashtra]:

     જૂનાગઢની મસીદના હજીરા ઉપરથી મુલ્લા બે કાનમાં આંગળી નાખીને નમાજની બાંગ દેતા.

     jūnāgaḍhnī masīdnā hajīrā uparthī mullā bě kānmā̃ āṅgaḷī nākhīne namājnī bāṅg detā.

     From atop the minaret of the Junagadh mosque, the mullah would put his fingers in both ears and give the call to prayer.
