From Proto-Indo-Iranian *sawHmyás (“pertaining to Soma-Haoma; coming from Soma-Haoma”). Cognate with Avestan 𐬵𐬀𐬊𐬨𐬌𐬌𐬀 (haomiia, “pertaining to Haoma”).
