Etymology
From Proto-Indo-Aryan *sáHdʰ, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *sáHdʰ, from Proto-Indo-European *seHdʰ- (“to go forth, succeed”); cognate with Old Armenian աջ (aǰ, “right”) and perhaps Ancient Greek ἰθύς (ithús, “straight, direct”).[1]
