Derived from Proto-Indo-Aryan *krūḍʰá, from an earlier form Proto-Indo-Aryan *kruẓḍʰá, which was derived from Proto-Indo-Iranian *krudᶻdʰás (angry, vexed), in a parallel development to the attested Sanskrit क्रुद्ध (kruddhá).
