Etymology
Inherited from Aramaic אבקא and in some dialects a learned borrowing from Classical Syriac ܐܒܩܐ (ʾaḇqā) as a substitute for the common Turkish loanword ܬܘܿܙ (tōz); compare Hebrew אָבָק (avák).
