Etymology

Inherited from Chagatai شونداغ (šwndāġ /⁠šundaġ⁠/), شونداق (šwndāq /⁠šundaq⁠/), from *šunï teg. Equivalent to شۇ (shu, “that”) +‎ ـنى (-ni, accusative case suffix) +‎ ـدەك (-dek, similitude case suffix). Cognate with Uzbek shunday, shundayin, shundoq, shunaqa, Kazakh сондай (sondai).
