Etymology 1

    Probably just an oral adaptation from Arabic صَهْرِيج (ṣahrīj), if we acknowledge that the source č cannot have ended up s by inheritance in Persian (or Iranian in general). The cultural exchange in the expansion of cistern constructions leading to such borrowing chains in few centuries, continued in the descendant list below, must be expanded upon elsewhere.
