An alternative form of סָגַר (sagár) with the second radical being voiceless instead. The primary meaning in Modern Hebrew of blocking water or damming is inspired by Genesis 8:2a: וַיִּסָּכְרוּ מַעְיְנֹת תְּהוֹם וַאֲרֻבֹּת הַשָּׁמָיִם, which describes the sources for the water of the deluge being blocked and closed off.
