Etymology
Together with Old Georgian ბადაგი (badagi) and Udi бадакӏ (badaḳ) borrowed from Iranian; compare Persian بَادَه (bāda / bâde, “wine, must”). Ačaṙean is reluctant to derive from Middle Persian [script needed] (bʾtk' /bādag/, “wine, must”), as he expects *բատակ (*batak) from it (compare մատակ (matak)), but note that we are dealing with a non-Classical, late word here, which may reflect the late pronunciation of Persian.

- Apa tur Mayubehi šarapn, zor zugen i ginwoy ew i serkewli ǰrēn; ew ayl tur nṙan badak, or annuxov lini zugac.
- Then administer the Mayubeh-syrup, which is prepared from wine and quince juice; and also administer pomegranate rob prepared with mint.

- Apa tʻē veraberutʻiwnn šat lini, xaġoġoy, xncori bandakov, ew azoxi bandakov, ew tʻtʻu nṙan bandakov, ew tʻarunč bandakov, ew fstuxi veri keġewovn.
- Then, if the vomiting is excessive, [soothe it] with the rob of grapes and apples, with the rob of unripe grapes, with the rob of sour pomegranates, with the rob of citron, and with the outer peel of the pistachio.
- Ապա թէ վերաբերութիւնն շատ լինի, խաղողոյ, խնծորի բանդակով, և ազոխի բանդակով, և թթու նռան բանդակով, և թարունճ բանդակով, և ֆստուխի վերի կեղևովն։
