Usage notes

  • Note that despite being suffixed with -че (-če), the baby animal suffix, this term inflects as a regular neuter noun, i.e. the genitive singular and nominative plural being ґраньча (granʹča) instead of respectively *ґраньчеца (*granʹčeca) and *ґраньчата (*granʹčata). Contrast this with помаранче (pomaranče), which despite not being a baby animal, declines with the baby animal paradigm.
