тарь

Ket

Etymology

inherited from Proto-Ketic *tʰaˤdʲʌ (beat, hit endwise using a long object, infinitive verb),[1][2] derived from Proto-Yeniseian *tʰex (hit endwise, strike, verb base).

Alternatively, analyzable as the action nominal counterpart of Ket тэт ([n²]-ted⁰, S. hits something).

Pronunciation

  • IPA(key): /⁴tad/, [taɾ̥ʲ˥˩]

Verb

тарь (tàdʲ) (action nominal)

  1. hitting, the act of hitting

Usage notes

  • Central Ket varieties use тааде (taːde), while Northern Ket varieties use тааре (taːde) instead.
