Inherited from Proto-Ketic *saqʌn (“fault; guilty”), etymology unclear. Either derived from Proto-Ketic *saq ~ *sax (“weight”) with Proto-Ketic *-ʌn (adjectivising suffix) appended, or derived from Proto-Yeniseian *saq ~ *saga (“squirrel”) with Proto-Yeniseian *-pʰan (caritive suffix) appended.
