While in perfective the partitive case of ма́сло (máslo) (i.e. ма́сла (másla), coincides with genitive) is many times more common, the accusative case (ма́сло (máslo), coincides with nominative) also can be used. In imperfective, however, the accusative is standard. However, in the negated imperfective (especially negated imperfective imperative) the partitive/genitive form is predominant: Не подлива́й ма́сла в ого́нь.
